Now this is getting suspicious. Two fights in a row that Silva has come in out of shape and fought like he is sparring in the gym. On top of that, it is two fights in a row when his opponents have done everything in their power not to embarrass him. Courmier just controlled him, when he could have mauled him, and now, Brunson has barely put any power in any of his shots, merely pushing Silva's face away.
This did not feel like a real fight.
I'm starting to think there is some spoken or unspoken agreement to let Anderson go out in better style.

I think your tinfoil hat is on a little too tight.

I just don't really see what there is to add. I see it as a non story, but what the hell.

Cormier said immediately after their fight that he couldn't afford to take any risks at all because of the delicate situation with the title and his impending matchup with Jones that was supposed to happen. I think that sufficiently explained that showing right then and there.
And Brunson not throwing caution to the wind and electing to bang it out with Silva isn't exactly mind blowing. Practically every fighter save for Weidman that chose to go toe-to-toe with Silva has paid dearly for it.
It's always been this way in his fights; he dares you to engage. If you do, he puts you away. If you don't, we get the Maia, Leites, etc. fights.
And it probably wasn't Brunson's gameplan to throw with him, anyway. He was going for take downs, but either wasn't getting them or wasn't holding Silva down when he did. So when that didn't work, he had to do something he clearly wasn't comfortable doing and stand and trade with him. And we saw the result of that; tentative, defensive striking.

If we're talking Bellator-type crap where guys inexplicably give up dominant positions and practically wrap the other guys' arms around their throats and immediately tap out, then maybe there'd be something here, but I think this a pretty gigantic reach to say there's some sort of fix because guys are a little tentative fighting Anderson Silva.
